This years draft appears to be a solid 12 player draft. Most GM's and draftnics have seven names in common when it comes to the top players in this draft, however the next five- LaRon Laundry, Levi Brown, Amobi Okoye, Jamaal Anderson, and Leon Hall, are just as likely to be impact players as the top seven. Calvin Johnson is head and Shoulders above the rest, and Joe Thomas is a hair above the next ten. The five in between are: Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Adrian Peterson, Alan Branch, and Gaines Adams. This years draft is a very interesting one for fans of the New England Patriots. The first round is stocked perfectly for the Patriots, if they wish to draft a Defensive Back, Wide Receiver, or Linebacker. There should be a couple at each position available in the Twenties which will be very tempting for the Pats.

1. |
Raiders |
Jamarcus Russell QB LSU 6-5.75, 265 |

Al Davis is nuts if he is planning to pass on a QB again. Rumors are spreading that he is trying to sign Jeff Garcia. Garcia is a good QB, but Russell has the chance to be a great one. I didn't know a lot about him until the Bowl game he played in, but I couldn't not have been more impressed. Davis should stop goofing around and have him signed to a contract before the draft.

2. |
Lions |
Joe Thomas OLT Michigan 6-5.5, 311 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Key F.A. Loses: |

I cannot believe that the Lions would pass on a QB, again, but if they do it will be for Joe Thomas. Statistically Detroit has the worst O-Line in the league. 31st in Average Per Carry, 31st in Sacks Allowed, and 31st in Redzone Offense. Joe Thomas is huge and has the feet to play Left Tackle. He is as smooth as ice. He looks like the surest-thing in the Draft. |
3. |
Browns |
Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma 6-1.5, 217 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Key F.A. Loses: |
I cannot believe that the Browns would pass on Brady Quinn. But everybody and his brother has them taking Adrian Peterson here. Peterson's inability to stay healthy worries me, but when he was on the football field he was dominate. Then he went to the Combine and should that Athletically he was the number one Running Back. The Browns definitely need a RB. |

4. |
Buccaneers |
Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech 6-5, 239 |

This appears to be the easiest pick in the draft so far. Calvin Johnson is far and away the best prospect in the draft. |
5. |
Cardinals |
Alan Branch DT Michigan 6-5.75, 324 |

A lot of people have Gaines going here, but Defensive End is not the Cards biggest need. They definitely need more Pass Rushers, Chike Okeafor and Bert Berry are both over 30 and showing signs of wear and tare, they combined for only 14.5 sacks. However, I think they have to get a Run-Stopping DT first. Alan Branch is slipping currently as athleticism takes president around Combine time, but as teams go back to the tape coaches love to see those giant immovable objects, and will start to drool when they see Branch not just holding the double- team but pushing it back. |

6. |
Redskins |
Gaines Adams DE/OLB Clemson 6-4.75, 258 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: London Fletcher LB Key F.A. Loses: |
It looks like the Skins are in pretty good position here. Come draft day they maybe choosing between Adams and Jamaal Anderson. I think come Draft-time Anderson will be the top rated Defensive End, but right now it's Gaines Adams. I believe Gaines will be the best Pass Rusher to come out of this Draft, and the Skins need Pass Rushers more than anything else. If Gaines slips to them they will be ecstatic. |

7. |
Vikings |
Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame 6-4, 230 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:
Vikings desperately need to trade up and pick up a young QB. Miraculously both Detroit and Cleveland foolishly appear ready to pass on Brady Quinn. The Vikings cannot be so foolish. Quinn struggled a little in some big games, but overall he showed everything you want in a QB prospect. |

8. |
Texans |
Levi Brown OLT Penn ST 6-5.5, 323 |
Key F.A. Signings: Key F.A. Loses:

Houston needs to draft four players here. Okoye, Ginn, Hall, and Brown. But I have been crucifying them for the past three seasons for not taking an Offensive Left Tackle, Gee. Taking Eric Winston in the 3rd Round last season was huge, if his knee is recovered he could be a Matt Light-like Left Tackle. That does not appear to be the case, so I have to go with Levi Brown here. Brown could solidify the O-Line and finally give Carr a chance to suceed.
9. |
Miami |
Amobi Okoye DT Louisville 6-2, 302 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Joey Porter LB Key F.A. Loses: Joey Harington QB
Miami is crushed in this scenario as Quinn and Brown as taken right before them, heh-heh-heh. However, Okoye could end up being the best D-Linemen in this draft. He is only 19m years old and his upside is phenomenal. |
10. |
Falcons |
LaRon Landry S LSU 6-.6, 212 |
F.A. Signings and Trades:
Key F.A. Loses: |
What a year to have a top ten pick and need a Safety. LaRon Laundry is a man amongst boys. Big enough and hits hard enough to be a Strong Safety, and is fast enough and athletic enough to be a Free Safety. This is another easy pick, if Laundry falls here Falcons cannot pass on him. |
11. |
49ers |
Jamaal Anderson DE Arkansas 6-6, 290 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Nate Clemons CB Key F.A. Loses: |
49ers need a 3-4 DE, and Anderson has been compared to Richard Seymour, I'm not sure there is any more to say. |
12. |
Bills |
Leon Hall CB Michigan 5-11,195 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Derrick Dockery OL Key F.A. Loses: Nate Clemons CB London Fletcher LB |
Nate Clemons looks to be gone already. Hall is the top Corner prospect in the draft. Another pick that is to logical to actually happen. |
13. |
Rams |
Charles Johnson DE Georgia 6-2, 4.81 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:
Ted Ginn Jr. would be an interesting pick here as Bruce and Holt are getting older, but Tony Hargrove? Jhnson really came last season as a Junior. He has good size and speed, and is a good Pass Rusher. Not the best fit in the draft, but Rams will have trouble passing on a Johnson come draft day. |
14. |
Panthers |
Lawrence Timmons OLB Florida ST 6-1, 234 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:
Panthers look to defense, and Linebacker and Safety looks to be their two biggest needs. I also wonder if they can pass on Ginn here, but it looks like they will be choosing between Reggie Nelson and Timmons. |
15. |
Steelers |
Jarvis Moss OLB/DE Florida 6-6, 250 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |
Steelers need help at OLB, and I think Moss is the best 3-4 OLB prospect in this draft. |
16. |
Packers |
Ted Ginn Jr. WR Ohio ST 5-11.5, 188 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |
Is Ted Ginn Jr a crazy pick here? I think this would be a huge boost for Favre. Ginn is just pure speed on the field. He is just a Touch Down waiting to happen. |
17. |
Jaguars |
Adam Carriker DE Nebraska 6-6, 296
Key F.A. Signings: Key F.A. Loses: |
Jags have top Defensive Tackle pair in the League, adding a top DE would make their D-line one of the best in the NFL. |
18. |
Bengals |
Greg Olsen TE Miami 6-5.5, 265 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |
I'm torn Willis or Olsen. Each would a huge help to this team next season. Since their is more depth at LBer in this draft I'll go with Olsen, Bengals should be able to pick up a good Linebacker prospect in the 2nd and the 3rd Round. Olsen looks like a Wide Receiver, but then you realize he is 255 pounds. He is a convert WR who still runs and catches like a Wide Receiver. Had a scary Combine. |
19. |
Titans |
Patrick Willis LB MIssissippi 6-1, 242 |
F.A. Signings and Trades:
Key F.A. Loses:

Titians need to improve their Defense to take the next step. I think Patrick Willis has a chance to be a great one. He is a sideline-to-sideline tackling machine. |

20. |
Giants |
Marshawn Lynch RB California 5-10, 220 |
. OLT, RB, OL, CB, WR, DT, LB, DB, OL
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:
Great Runner who has off field issues. Has herky-jerky running motion that makes him great in the open field, he even ran his Forty at the Combine like he was trying to fake out a DB. |
21. |
Broncos |
Reggie Nelson S Florida 6', 195 |
F.A. Signings and Trades: Travis Henry RB Dam WIlkerson DT Key F.A. Loses:
Broncos need a DE, and Spencer looks to be a good one. Nelson is a playmaker from Championship Program. Their Defensive Backfield is in disarray, and Nelson will steal a lot of time, if not the starting job, from aging Lynch. |
22. |
Cowboys |
Justin Blalock OG/OT Texas 6-3, 330 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |
Maybe a bit of a reach, but the pick just fit perfect. Dallas really needs help on O-Line, and Blalock looks to be ready to step into the starting lineup and not leave for 10 years. |
23. |
Chiefs |
Joe Staley OLT Central Michigan 6-6, 297 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:
Chiefs must get at least two if not three Offensive Linemen in this draft. Staley would be a reach, but he is a legitimate Left Tackle prospect, and worth his weight in gold. They may have to wait a little for him to gain weight, strength, and technique, but he has everything you need athletically to play Left Tackle in NFL. |

The Patriots are in great position for this years Draft. The past three year I thought the Pats should trade up or down for a higher rated player or more picks, and of course they stayed put and did a great job. This year I think they should just stay put and take whoever falls to them. It looks like to me every player taken in the twenties this year could all be DBs, LBs, and WRs, the Pats top three needs. So of course, I'm sure the Pats will trade up or trade with one or both of these picks. Patriots still need to pick up at least one corner and Linebacker, even if they sign Samuel and Thomas. If they really somehow do sign both players WR and Safety become top needs. Nelson or Griffin are both excellent Safety prospects, and Meacham and Bowe are both excellent WR prospects. Aaron Ross is another interesting Corner prospect. Houston, I think, is the best Press Corner prospect in the draft. He is strong, tough, fast, and lightning quick. By Draft day a lot of teams will have him high on their boards, and he probably won't make it past the Titans at 19. The Pats could also look at Linebacker Posluszny, but Linebacker has a lot of depth in this draft. All three of these Linebackers will be available in the 2nd Round: David Harris (Who I think is just as good an Inside Linebacker prospect as Posluszny), Brandon Siler and Jon Beason. Also Linebackers available in the 3rd Round look to be excellent this year. Tim Shaw, H.D. Blades, Jay Moore, Justin Durant, and Prescott Burgess all appear to be available in the 3rd Round. Plus you have the four Combine wonder Linebackers who will be available early on day two: Zak DeOssie, Brian Robison, Quincy Black, and Antwan Barnes. |

Jarrett is a huge and slow WR who looks like a good fit in the West Coast Offense. |

27. |
Saints |
Dwayne Bowe WR LSU 6-2. 220 |
F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |

How's this for a good fit. Bowe looks like he could be a star if he can stop the dropping the ball. He has everything you want in a WR. He is big and strong and knows how to get open, and his best asset may be his blocking. He is by far the best blocking WR in this years draft. He could very easily be a solid pick for the Pats at 24. |

28. |
Patriots |
Jason Hill WR Washington ST 6-.5, 204 |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses: |
Patriots MUST get a Wide Receiver with one of their top three picks. Yes, I know Meacham and Rice are available, but I like Hill. The Patriots Offense utilizes Quickness over Speed in its Offense, that is why Branch and Brown have been so effective. Hill has Amazing quickness and runs routes like an NFL veteran. He is the best fit for the Pats Offense in this draft. The quickness of his cuts are nearly as good as Branch's and Brown's. He had two straight thousand yard seasons at Washington ST. They may be able to pass on him here and see how far he drops into the 2nd Round. Most Draftnics have him falling into the 2nd Round, but when he ran a 4.32 at the Combine he may have pushed himself up into the 1st Round. |

Ravens |
Paul Posluszny LB Penn ST 6-1.5, 233 |
Key F.A. Signings:

Billick has to be hoping Posluszny falls to him. He looks like he could play any of the four LB positions in the 3-4. And with Thomas leaving that versatility will be needed. |

30. |
Chargers |
Robert Meacham WR Tennessee 6-2, 205, |
Key F.A. Signings:
Key F.A. Loses:

Chargers will be doing jumping jacks if Meacham falls to them. They would probably prefer Posluszny here, but Meachum would be an even second. |

31. |
Bears |
Arron Sears OG/OT Tennessee 6-6, 330 |
F.A. Signings and Trades:
Key F.A. Loses: |
Bears must improve their Offensive Line. Sears looks like a very good Guard prospect, and he might have to size to play Tackle as well. I think Grubbs is a much better O-Guard Prospect, but the Bears need help at multiple postions, and Sears looks like he can play O-Guard and )-Tackle. |
32. |
Colts |
Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh 5-11,190 |
Key F.A. Signings:

Colts will need a Linebacker, COrner, and O-Lineman with their first three picks. Revis was great in College and if he slides down here the Colts can't pass on him.
